The Circuit Service at CSMC on Sunday 22 September, was a momentous occasion, marked by a spirit of warmth, celebration, and renewal. The service brought together congregants from various churches within the circuit to welcome new leadership and celebrate the ongoing dedication of local preachers. It was a special day as the community gathered to officially welcome the new District Chair, a new minister, and two supernumerary ministers; all of who were beginning their new roles within the circuit.
A unique aspect of the service was the Circuit Choir with singers from all over the Cambridge circuit coming together in song to perform. There was also time dedicated to celebrating our local preachers. These individuals, who serve as lay ministers within the church, play a vital role in leading worship and preaching the word of God. One preacher celebrated their 26 years of preaching, and a certificate would have been awarded – had it been spelled correctly.
The preachers present were asked to respond to a series of affirmations about their commitment to preaching, teaching, and living out the gospel in their daily lives. The congregation joined in prayer, asking for God’s blessing and guidance for these dedicated individuals. It was a moving moment, filled with a sense of shared purpose and community support.
After the service, there was a time of fellowship, with refreshments served in the church hall. Members of the congregation took the opportunity to greet the new ministers personally, to express their welcome, and to share in the excitement of the day. The Circuit Service at Castle Street Methodist Church was a true celebration of faith and community, marking the start of a new chapter with hope and joy.
Thank you to all who helped make the evening a success be it in stewardship, choir, or participation.
